Oh absolutely. My father one day in response to something i said.. told me to go and throw my intelligence into a dustbin. He said hardwork is the most inportant thing. Analogy.

@Anantha:

The Drive to do something and the Hard-work put in, are totally different from each other. They are two distinct factors that might help us succeed in careers.
As well, skill and intelligence vary widely in conception; as skill is something that is a result of constant practice that varies in individuals, and in individuals it varies with time. Intelligence is matter of the mind. It cannot be increased or decreased. It can only be applied differently, to different situations, to extract different results.

In today's competition, I cannot trust my hard work to pay, until I am basically more intelligent than others. People with more skill definitely do better work than the others, unless 'they lack the drive', and drive meaning 'desire to achieve'... not 'hard work'.

Once the drive is born, hard-work, smart work, skillful work, intelligent guessing, outsourcing capabilities, gathering information, and tricks to make others work... all become 'routes', to lead to success in careers.

good statement... real insight .... awesome pic ..... beauty and brains in one parcel...
but i wonder whether she believed in that statement herself.... is she saying that she was mediocre and did achieve something only by a inner drive.... did she feel that... then she didn't have belief in herself ..... than why she is making this statement of belief or whatever.... utter confusion....

@Karthik: I cannot agree that, accepting oneself as mediocre, is 'not-having-trust-in-oneself'.
Maybe, she just knew herself much better than, people generally get to know themselves. Or, may be she was better at accepting facts as facts, and then finding out ways to overcome disabilities.

Unless we know our weak points, it is impossible to improve ourselves.
